This is Hope

She was rescued as a baby from a PMU Farm (pregnant mares urine.

Hope was adopted and spent most of her life with a loving family until something changed and she came back to Lifesavers. Now she lives with us at the Sanctuary spending her golden years just being Hope.

As we step into the new year, we are filled with HOPE and inspiration for the countless possibilities that lie ahead. It’s a chance for a fresh start and a clean slate, where we can plan and prepare projects that will maintain and improve the lives of more than 400 rescued horses under our care at Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue.

One of our primarey projects, Sunset Acres, is a sanctuary dedicated to senior horses that require extra attention and special feed as they age gracefully.

Now in our 27th year of rescue operations, we have over 100 horses that have been with us since the early years, and they are now in their 20’s. Some have been with us their entire lives!

When we rescued them we made a promise that they would never have to worry about being abused, neglected, or sent to slaughter - ever again.

As these magnificient creatures reach the later stages of their lives, we are committed to making adjustments to ensure their continued well-being. This is why Sunset Acres is so crucial. Our goal is to bring all our elderly equines together at one property, providing them with a shared space and a consistent diet.

We started with a 20-acre parcel and have expanded it to 40 acres, with an additional 20-acre parcel in escrow right now. Soon, Sunset Acres will encompass a full 60 acres with it’s own specific purpose. We are currently in the process of fencing the areas, and shelters for wind block, rain cover, and shade are on their way.

We are so grateful for our friends who sponsored four 3-sided shelters and the dedication signs that will hang in each shelter, once constructed, have been engraved.

However, we still have plumbing work to complete to ensure a proper water supply to large water troughs. There is also some cleanup and organization in the barn and storage buildings yet to do. But we are making strides despite the weather and other obstacles that want to slow us down.

The additional parcels were a significant investment for us, but we believe it’s necessary for the number of horses we eventually want to accommodate. As we push forward with this project, we are faced with the challenges of winter - a time when donations tend to decrease, but the needs of our horses become even greater.

This is where we need yiour help. Any amount you can contribute will go a long way in supporting Sunset Acres and the whole of Wild Horse Canyon Sanctuary through the winter months.

Your donation will assist us in covering hay and special feed expenses as we work tirelessly to ensure the completion of Sunset Acres. It’s a massive undertaking that demands substantial time, effort, and funds, but it’s a steady and vital process.

Creating this addition to the sanctuary has been one of the most challenging tasks on our to-do list, especially considering it is the first step toward relocating our Lancaster, California ranch to Wild Horse Canyon Sanctuary in Caliente, California.

We understand that this time of year can be fiinancially challenging for everyone, but your support has always made you a Lifesaver to us. Your generosity is greatly appreciated, and it plays a pivotal role in the lives of these rescued horses.

Please join us in making Sunset Acres a haven for our elderly equines ensuring they live out their days with the care and love they deserve. Your contribution, no matter the size, will make a significant impact.

If you have already donated recently - I understand it may be too soon for you to consider another donation. I greatly appreciate your love!!    Thank you.

From my heart to yours filled with love and endless HOPE for this New Year and beyond!
