WILD HORSE GETAWAY – AIRBNB
Wild Horse Canyon Lodge – is a unique place to experience the solitude, beauty and magic of the mountains of Central CA, on a 1000 + acre wild horse sanctuary near the southern tip of the Sequoia National Forest. Relax under the quiet beauty of blue skies surrounded by wild horses, mountains and trees during the day, and beneath clear, mystical starry skies at night. You will feel transported to another place and time far away from the hustle and bustle of today’s life.
Comfortable, modern and roomy, our remotely located 3 bedroom ranch lodge is located 2.5 miles down a sand road near Caliente, CA in the very small town of Twin Oaks. Only 3 hours drive from downtown Los Angeles and 1 hour from Bakersfield or Tehachapi, you will find yourself transported to a magical wilderness area…a hidden gem where you can rediscover the gifts of a slower, more peaceful energy.
Interaction with guests
GUIDED EXPERIENCE: Wild Horse Canyon is part of Lifesavers Wild Horse Rescue which operates as a501(c)3 Non-Profit. Our land here is home to almost 300 (previously wild) rescued horses. During your stay here, we offer you the option of a Guided Experience which can include up to 2 of the following (at no additional costs to you): a tour of the herds on their lands in our UTV’s; an opportunity to assist with morning hay distribution to feed the horses from the back of our feed trucks; an opportunity to picnic surrounded by our wild horses; and the very unique opportunity to watch the “gentling process,” as our trainers work with select horses in hopes of creating adoptable horses. There are hiking trails, photo opps, and wildlife watching all within walking distance of the Lodge. The profits we gain from your stay will help us to continue our work saving America’s Wild Horses…and the experience you will take away with you will be priceless.
Other things to note
We do NOT offer trail rides or horseback riding of any kind, and while you are welcome to view the horses from outside their contained areas…you are only allowed inside fences when accompanied by a Staff Member.
